This survey historiographical article examines social processes in contemporary history, i.e. from the 1917 Revolution to modernity. The author classifies the works into four focus areas: works that explore intra-social processes (culture, internal policy pursued by the authorities and society’s reaction to this policy, revolutionary processes, etc.); works that explore economic processes; studies concerned with foreign policy and warfare as a whole; works of a historiographical nature.
