DEGTYAREV SERGEY IVANOVICH

Born April 27, 1978.

He graduated from the history department of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko.

During 2005-2008, he studied at the postgraduate school of Kiev National University named after Taras Shevchenko.

2009 – Candidate of historical sciences / PhD (History). Theme of dissertation «Materials of Povit Courts of Left-Bank Ukraine as a Historic Source (the End of the XVIII – 60ies of the XIX century)».

In 2011-2014 he studied at the doctoral National Pedagogical University named after M.P. Drahomanov.

2015 – Doctor of Historical Sciences / Dr (History). Theme of dissertation «Civil officials of public institutions of Ukraine (end of XVIII – first half XIX centuries): sociocultural characteristics, the system of rewards and punishments».

In Sumy State University since 2003.

2013 – Assosiate Professor.

Since 2015 heads the Research Center for local history of Sumy State University. Directs the work on the implementation of fundamental research «The historical development of the Northeast Frontier of Ukraine as a way of constructing a national model of historical memory» (15.01.10-01.15/17 ЗФ).

The Official representative in Ukraine of international publishing house «Academic Publishing House «Researcher» (APHR), which specializes in the publication of open access journals with the original data in English.

Member of the National Union of Local Historians of Ukraine.

The chief editor of scientific journals «Sumy Historical and Archival Journal», «Zhurnal Ministerstva narodnogo prosveshcheniya», «Gardarika», «Refereed Journal: History and Archaeology in Countries of Black Sea Basin».

A member of the editorial boards of scientific journals «Bylye Gody», «Asian Journal of Social and Human Sciences», «Journal of Advocacy, Research and Education», «Sumy Ancient Land».

Research interests – the politics of memory, the development of the historical memory of the North-Eastern Ukraine, socio-economic and political history of North-Eastern Ukraine, the history of the civil bureaucracy of the Russian empire, Sumy regional history.
